Fontaine et lavoir des Bourgades

La fontaine lavoir des bourgades dite « de la glacière » à cause du quartier particulièrement froid en hiver. Elle a été construite en 1778 afin de permettre aux habitations du quartier d’avoir de l’eau sans se déplacer à la fontaine lavoir de la porte principale ; et permettre aussi aux gens et aux bêtes de passage de s’abreuver lorsqu’ils se rendaient à Méthamis. La date de 1881 serait liée à un réaménagement, peut être sa couverture ou construction du lavoir à la fontaine ou lors de l’inscription « liberté, égalité, fraternité ».

The Fountain and wash house of the “Bourgades”

The wash house of the “ Bourgades”  is nicknamed “the cooler” because the area is particularly cold during winter. It was built in 1778 to allow homes in the neighborhood to have water without having to go to the wash house fountain at the main gate. The fountain was also built in order to allow people and animals going to Méthamis (a village at 5 km) to drink. The date 1881 may refer to some refurbishing. It may refer to the addition of the roof on the wash tank or  to the  inscription “Liberty Equality Fraternity”
